¦Â-lactamase
¡¡¡¡Penicillinase is also called ¦Â-lactamase, which hydrolyze ¦Â-lactamse. More
than 200 ¦Â-lactamase were found by far, and can be classified according to the molecular biology or the BUSH classification system, the two major classification systems for ¦Â-lactamase.
¡¡¡¡The molecular classification system divides the ¦Â-lactamases into four groups. Group A consists of many plasmid-encoded molecules with serine residue(s) in active site and a M.W.of 29 kDa. Group B enzymes can be encoded either by plasmids or chromosome, belong to metalloenzymes, their activity need the participation of zinc and could be inhibited by EDTA. Group C enzymes are produce in response to inducer, with active serine residue(s) an a M.W. of 39 kDa.Group C mainly refers to cephalosporinase encoded by chromosome (Amp C). Group D enzymes are also called OXA ¦Â-lactamase that hydrolyze oxacillin.
¡¡¡¡Another kind of classification is call BUSH classification, which also sorts the enzymes into 4 classes depending on their substrates and inhibitors spectrum. Class I includes cephalosporinase (Amp C) encoded by chromosome. Class II includes penicillinase and Extended spectrum ¦Â-lactamase (ESBL). Class III consists of metalloenzymes. Class IV contains enzymes that cannot be completely inhibited by clavulanic acid
¡¡¡¡Penicillinase can be used to eliminate ¦Â-lactams pollution, such as those in hospital, on medical apparatus and in foods. The enzyme we providing is TEM1, which belongs to molecular biology classification group A and BUSH classification Class II, with a M.W. of 29 kDa and PI of 5.4. We provide both natural and fusion form of this enzyme.
